Title: The Spell Thief (Little Legends series Book 1)
Author / Illustration: Tom Percival
Publisher: Macmillan Children's Books
In this story, Jack and his magical talking chicken, Betsy, are really into making new friends. One day, a new boy, Anansi, comes to town. However, Jack once spots Anansi talking to a troll in the Deep Dark Woods. Jack becomes doubtful! Trolls spell trouble! Jack is now determined to find out more about Anansi and prove that he is a troll spy. Of course, Jack is a little jealous of all the attention that Anansi is getting! This jealousy makes him even more stuck to the task of proving he is right, in the course of which he loses some of his friends. However, when Jack understands his wrongdoing, he tries to correct himself (which is kinda nice!).
📚 This book is perfect for kids who can read a hard easy reader book and easy chapter books and have not yet reached longer chapter books.
📚 The fairy tale characters in this story also make this fun and interesting to emerging readers.
📚 Illustrations are charming and fun!
📚 This book would be perfect for low-to-middle-grade kids, probably, 7+.
