The Bagel King

Every Sunday morning, Zaida, Eli's grandfather, would bring bagels for Eli. His grandfather didn't care about the weather and he used to do this regardless. Eli used to love the time that he got to spend with his grandfather, Zaida, and they enjoyed eating yummy treats together.

One Sunday, Eli continued waiting but his grandfather didn't come, instead, there came a phone call! He had fallen and gotten hurt! The doctor has suggested that Zaida has to rest at home for at least two whole weeks. This meant that Eli could not have the Sunday morning bagels!

During the first week, Eli brought chicken soup and many neighbors came to visit Eli's grandfather at home. Eventually, Eli decides that he has to repay his grandfather's kindness somehow. He makes a plan to get bagels on his own and surprise his grandfather. When Eli executes this plan, his grandfather feels so happy and proud of Eli that he calls him "the Bagel King".

This story depicts the sweet relationship of the little boy and his grandfather and the beautiful bond they share between them. Vibrant yet mild-colored illustrations support the story well.

This book can be used as a read-aloud for little kids and toddlers as they can learn a lot from this story. This would be a good elementary read as well.
